Savor traditional flavors in this popular Latin American dish. Mildly spiced, slow-cooked shredded beef is surrounded by moist corn dough (masa) and hand wrapped in authentic corn husks to cook. Unwrap to reveal the over-the-top steamy goodness inside. A sensational appetizer or light meal.

Preparation

Time to table:* 22 minutes

    • Steam Steam
  • In a medium saucepan, bring 2 inches of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Place steam basket in saucepan and water.
  • Arrange 4 husk-wrapped tamales in the steam basket. Cover tightly.
  • Steam for 20 to 22 minutes.
  • Remove husk prior to eating.
    • Microwave Microwave
  • 1. Place 1 husk-wrapped tamale on microwave-safe dish.
  • 2. Cook on HIGH (100% power) for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.
  • 3. Remove husk prior to eating.
  • 4. Optional: A damp paper towel may be wrapped around tamale when cooking for added moisture.
